Obituary
訃聞
Warren Ta, beloved husband of Shelley (Nhi Quang) Phu of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the age of 62.
Warren was born in Saigon, Vietnam on October 16, 1963, as the youngest son of Hinh Thuy Phan and Nhi Ta. The family escaped the aftermath of war and landed in Edmonton, AB after three months in a refugee camp in Malaysia. They moved to Calgary in 1979, where as a teenager, Warren started building the foundation for his life in Canada.
Warren had a bright and curious mind and always wanted to learn more about everything and have new experiences. He loved to travel with his wife and good friends, trying new foods and meeting new people. Because of his good-natured humour, adaptability, and ability to talk to anyone, Warren made friends everywhere he went.
Warren was a dutiful son, doting husband, fiercely protective father, and loyal friend. Nothing was ever too much work for him when someone needed a helping hand or listening ear. Warren always went out of his way to make sure everyone and everything was taken care of. While Warren faced many adversities, he always persevered and never let hurdles defeat him in mind, body, or spirit.
Even when Warren was diagnosed with bulbar-onset ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) in March 2026, he faced this devastating, incurable disease with incredible bravery and resolve. Every day brought more unknowns, but Warren once again was a rock for his family and friends. He provided us the comfort and strength we needed to continue fighting for small victories, finding moments of joy, and reminding us of what really matters.
Warren spent the last three months of his life surrounded by family and friends. Besides his loving wife of 36 years, Warren is survived by his three daughters, Alicia, Natalie, and Shyanne; his mother, Hinh; his sister, Elaine; his brother, Tom; and numerous relatives and friends in Canada and around the world.
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
If friends so desire, tribute donations may be made directly to the ALS Society of Alberta, www.alsab.ca, or in cash at the funeral service to provide food hampers to families in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
謝錦華先生（Warren Ta）是符冠𠒇女士的摯愛丈夫，生前居於亞伯達省卡加利市。他於 2026 年 5 月 9 日（星期六）安詳離世，享年 62 歲。
謝錦華先生於 1963 年 10 月 16 日出生於越南西貢，是父親謝澤如先生與母親鄭水卿女士的幼子。一家人在戰後動盪中離開越南，在馬來西亞難民營度過三個月後，來到加拿大亞伯達省愛民頓市。他們於 1979 年遷居卡加利。當時仍是少年的他，也由此開始在加拿大建立人生的根基。
謝錦華先生天資聰穎，充滿好奇心，總是渴望學習更多、體驗新的事物。他喜歡與妻子和好友一起旅行，品嚐不同地方的美食，結識新朋友。憑着他開朗幽默的性格、隨和的適應力，以及與人交談時的真誠自在，他走到哪裡都能與人結緣。
謝錦華先生是孝順的兒子、疼愛妻子的丈夫、全心守護女兒的父親，也是忠誠可靠的朋友。每當身邊的人需要幫忙，或需要有人傾聽，他從不嫌麻煩，總會盡心盡力。他總是設法把每個人、每件事都照顧周全。即使一生面對許多逆境，他仍然堅毅前行，從不讓困難擊倒他的身心與精神。
2026 年 3 月，謝錦華先生被診斷患上延髓起病型肌萎縮側索硬化症（ALS，俗稱漸凍症）。面對這個嚴重且無法治癒的疾病，他仍以令人敬佩的勇氣與決心面對。每一天都充滿未知，但他依然成為家人和朋友的支柱。他給予我們安慰與力量，讓我們能繼續爭取每一個小小的進展，珍惜每一刻喜悅，並提醒我們生命中真正重要的事。
謝錦華先生生命最後的三個月，在家人和朋友的陪伴中度過。除了相伴 36 年的愛妻符冠𠒇女士，他亦留下三位女兒謝子欣（Alicia）、謝子悦（Natalie）和謝子禧（Shyanne）；母親鄭水卿女士；姐姐謝秀蘭；哥哥謝錦榮；以及身在加拿大和世界各地的眾多親戚朋友。
喪禮將於 2026 年 5 月 23 日（星期六）上午 11 時，假 McInnis & Holloway（Chapel of the Bells，2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB）舉行。
